We in India like to pride ourselves on being an IT superpower, but the

World Economic Forum's Networked Readiness Index 2014 provides a

sobering reality check.  Taking into account parameters like cost of 

access to infrastructure and use of IT by governments among others, 

the index ranks 148 countries based on how prepared they are to utilise

the power of networking, India is ranked 83rd in the index.  What's worse,

that's down 15 places from a year ago.  China and Brazil among Brics

nations have also slid, but not quite as much and are ranked well above

India.
