MONTBLANC INKS JV WITH TITAN

MONTBLANC = Writing instruments company, has partnered with Titan indus-

tries a part of the Tata conglomerate, in a 51:49 Joint venture, becoming the latest

foreign retailer to invest in the country after government loosened rules for single-

brand retailers.

Montblanc plans to enhance the lukury experience to customers in India where

it first opened its boutique at Delhi's Maurya hotel in the nineties.  Today it has

some 16 boutiques in the country where demand for the lukury goods is growing

Montblanc is the second largest business owned by Richmont  behind Cartier

accounting for 8 % of its 10 billion euros sales.  Besides Pens, Montblanc sells

range of high-quality men's life style products such as Watches and Fragance 

and Eyeware.  Montblanc  CEO Jerome Lambert said the firm's aim is to

become a leader in men's luxury accessories.

The Joint venture deal fits well in Titan's paln of upping its luxury play even as 

it guns to touch $3 billion revenue in the next 2 years.

The Tata Group has been leading in building partnerships with Global brands

such as Starbucks and Singapore Airlines, Air Asia Airlines using

the Government's relaxed regulations in Retail and Aviation sector.
Along with other partnership with Sikorsky U.S.AgustaWesstland Italy for
making Helicopters, Lockheed Martin U.S. for assembling Aero - Structures.

Analysts opines this could open like flood of Sunshine of oppurtunity in Indian

Retail, Luxury goods market sector where it would generate several billions

of dollars market place. ==TOI
